A few months back, I offered up a round-up of games that I had recently played or been playing. It was good; I liked it. It made me feel much more accomplished than I thought it would. And I think it’s something I’m going to try to do every few months, or thereabouts. (Probably without the “Play or Pass” references, unless I picked up something based off that series specifically.) Starting with this poorly titled post. Maybe I’ll come up with something snazzier eventually. Maybe not. I really don’t know. And as you can see, I’m having a damn near awful time with this introduction, so let’s just let on with the games, shall we?
And who says change is bad? Well, United We Game certainly doesn’t…er, didn’t…and that why it’s changed! United We Game is now Virtual Bastion!
If you’re not familiar with my “Play or Pass” series that I completed last year, it may behoove you to check out my page devoted to it. In fact, I strongly suggest that you do, if only to affirm the fact that I just used “behoove” in a real sentence.
I’ve obliquely stated before, here and otherwise, that my current interest in games has little to do with current games. Outside of a handful of new titles on which I’ve set my sights this year, most of what I’m interesting in playing is from the past. Sometimes the recent past; sometimes the long forgotten past. But, the past, nonetheless. This sentiment is something that I rather inadvertently bolstered with my “Play or Pass” series. It confirmed and emphasized what I already knew: I’ve missed out on a hell of a lot of games. And while not all games on that list were ones that I’d readily accept, a few of them stood out as ones that, yeah, I really should tackle. Add to this an impromptu trip to a newly-discovered used game store, as well as the barging bin at Wal-Mart, and, a Listmas promise to myself to purposely delve into my backlog (goddammit!), well…I’ve been in gaming heaven for several months.
Hey look, I avoided all the gutters! And I hope you did too.
If you’ve no idea what I’m talking about, it’s fine. It’s not important. None of this is important. EXCEPT. What IS important is that it’s time for me to run down the list of what I have in mind to do in the space this year. Things are going to be a little different around here, and…um…that’s all I have for an intro. Hmm, maybe not the best way to start off with the first post of the year. But c’mon, cut me some slack…I’ve been busy! I know my writing hasn’t been up to snuff lately, but I want to get back into that groove! I miss you guys. I miss reading your blogs and being part of the community. I…I *sniff* I…
*sniff sob sniff*
Just…roll the bullet points, please.
HEY LADY WHAT THE HELL IS GOING WITH METAL GEAR AC!D??!!?
Why, I’m so glad you asked.
Rest assured that this oddball PSP game hasn’t been far from my thoughts over these past several months. In fact, it’s been on my mind more than ever lately because the new year is right around the corner. And my grand plan was that I’d start up this series in January or February, so…
Yeah, I’ve been thinking about Metal Gear Ac!d. But what of the project, “Ac!d Commander,” itself? Well, I have decided…
*drum roll* … … …
Hmmm…reading that title might make one think that I’m talking about some new game. Some new game that’s been horrifically delayed because I WANT IT NOOOOOOW, as Veruca Salt once said. But no, this post is not about a new game. It is, verily, about an old game, well…a sorta old game. “Old” is a relative term, really. I mean, when you think about it, we’re all just different shades of “old.”
I really should delete that paragraph, but fuck it, I’m already here and typing, so I’ll just get on with it, then.
TL;DR My next game project, playing through Metal Gear Ac!d, has, unfortunately, met the back burner.
I had honestly planned to write up a game post this week, but my brain has been much too cluttered of late. Pardon my dust here as I do a little mental cleaning in the form of bullet points.
- This has been a strange year, especially for this blog. And I have a feeling it will only get stranger. That could be good. That could be…weird. I don’t think it will be bad, but I guess you’ll be the judge of that. I have no damn idea what the point of this bullet is, but it sums up well the current disarray of my thoughts.
- I think I’m going to change the look of this blog sometime soon. I like the cleanness of this current theme, but I’ve developed a heightened affection for a couple WP’s “reader-focused” themes — those that emphasize the writing and hide the sidebars. I’ve been messing around with some tests and demos to see what might work best. What’s staying in some fashion is my logo and the general color scheme. Sorry, I like green, gray, and purple. Otherwise, you’d get all black, and that’d be quite the difficult site to navigate.
- Here, I’d also like to do a few more page updates and also work on what to do about my non-social media. I need to remember that Twitter can be good for stuff other than spammy blog things. And I don’t know what the hell to do about my ignored Facebook page — delete it? I’m on the verge. Of course, both sites are dying in some manner, so…what’s the next big thing? Pagers and carrier pigeons? Sometimes it seems like that’s exactly the direction things are going…backwards.
Hello nice followers and lovely people of the Internet. I’m popping in with a couple quick updates… (Yes, I know I’ve been popping in, and out, a lot lately. Last time for awhile — promise.)
